Art Weglein is receiving the Reginald Fessenden Award for his influence on the seismic industry through his work in inverse scattering. He and his colleagues and students have published widely on this topic and the result is seen in the thinking and practice in the industry today, particularly in the area of treatment of multiple reflections.

Arthur B. Weglein received his PhD in physics from the City University of New York in 1975 and then spent two years as a Robert Welsh Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of Texas at Dallas. He entered seismic petroleum research in 1978, first at Cities Service Oil Company Research Laboratory in Tulsa (1978-81) and Sohio Petroleum Company Research Laboratory in Dallas (1981-85). Weglein spent the next 15 years as a member of ARCO’s research staff.

The 2011 M-OSRP Annual Technical Review and Meeting will be held Wednesday, June 1 - Friday, June 3rd, 2011 at the Barton Creek Resort in Austin, Texas. Per the request of the M-OSRP Advisory Board, we will hold a half day tutorial on the morning of Wednesday June 1st, 2011. The Technical Review will begin after lunch on Wednesday, June 1st and end at noon, on Friday, June 3rd.

WASHINGTON (April 29, 2004) - The House Energy and Commerce Subcommittee on Energy and Air Quality heard experts testify to the benefits of an aggressive research and development program to produce substantial quantities of natural gas and oil in the ultra-deep waters of the Gulf of Mexico and the promising, complex onshore horizons in the United States.
